Universities League Kickboxing Turkey Championship started at MAKÜ

The Ünilig Kick Boxing Turkey Championship, organized under the hosting of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), has started. The organization, in which approximately 700 athletes from 92 universities across Turkey are competing, is being held at MAKÜ Sports Facilities.

 

On the first day of the championship, the opening program was attended by Burdur Member of Parliament Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz, President of the Turkish University Sports Federation and Rector of Bayburt University Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen, Kick Boxing Federation President Salim Kayıcı, MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Orhan Kemerkaya, academicians, athletes, and many sports enthusiasts.

 

Athletes who achieve rankings will represent our country in the European Championship

In the ceremony that started with the flag display of the athletes, the first speech was made by Kick Boxing Federation President Salim Kayıcı. Kayıcı thanked MAKÜ for hosting the organization and expressed that the athletes and technical teams were extremely satisfied with the camp environment. Emphasizing the importance of such inter-university organizations, Kayıcı stated that he believes the athletes who achieve rankings will successfully represent our country in the European Championship in the future.

 

Türkmen; “MAKÜ has become an important center for sports organizations”

Then, President of the Turkish University Sports Federation Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen emphasized that Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University has become an important center for sports organizations. Türkmen stated that the strong sports infrastructure in Burdur serves not only university students but also young people coming from all over Turkey, and said that efforts are ongoing to organize national and international events in these facilities. Expressing that many major events will be hosted in various branches in the coming months, Türkmen stated that Burdur will experience significant sports activity with approximately 10 major events until May.

 

Rector Dalgar; “As a university, we have mobilized all resources for the spread of sports”

The host university's rector, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, in his speech, drew attention to the vital importance of sports for young people. Emphasizing that sports is a strong element that keeps young people away from technology addiction and contributes to their physical and mental development, Dalgar said that as a university, they have mobilized all resources for the spread of sports. Reminding that the competitions are broadcast live on digital platforms, Dalgar thanked the technical teams and athletes of all participating universities and wished them success.

 

MAKÜ hosts important sports organizations

The last speech of the opening program was made by Burdur Member of Parliament Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz. Korkmaz expressed that it is a source of pride that the sports investments implemented during his university rectorship have reached a level to host important organizations today. Stating that these investments are a concrete indicator of the value given to youth, Korkmaz thanked everyone who contributed and wished success to the athletes.

After the speeches, boxing gloves were presented by Kick Boxing Federation President Salim Kayıcı to Burdur Member of Parliament Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz, Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, and Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Orhan Kemerkaya.

 

The Ünilig Kick Boxing Turkey Championship, which started on January 16, will conclude with the closing program to be held on Sunday, January 18. Athletes who achieve rankings at the end of the tournament will earn the right to represent Turkey in the European Kick Boxing Championship.
